White Abalone I Print

White Abalone I Print
White Abalone, Haliotis sorenseni
The White Abalone is currently listed as Critically Endangered and has the smallest population of the eight North American Abalone species. This precious creature was once found in healthy numbers from Point Conception, CA to Baja, Mexico. Overharvesting has reduced their numbers to the point where they are so sparse in the wild that they cannot find mates. The UC Davis Bodega Bay Marine Lab's White Abalone Captive Breeding Program is working to restore the wild population through hatchery efforts. I created this painting in partnership with a private collector to help support the Endangered White Abalone Restoration Fund.
30% OF THIS SALE WILL BE DONATED TO THE UC DAVIS ENDANGERED WHITE ABALONE RESTORATION FUND TO HELP PRESERVE THIS INCREDIBLY RARE AND BEAUTIFUL SPECIES
