Right Whale, Eubalaena glacialis
The Right Whale got its name because it was the right whale to harpoon in the days of whaling. They were an easy target due to their gentle nature and were valued for their high blubber content. Because of this they were hunted to near extinction. Even today the North Atlantic Right Whale's population is only 411 individuals and is listed as Critically Endangered.

My mission as an artist is to inspire an appreciation for and curiosity about nature and its creatures by communicating the aesthetic beauty of this planet’s amazing creatures as they really are.
It is my hope that this appreciation will result in acts of empathy & stewardship towards these incredible creatures portrayed in my paintings.
