Madagascan Starry Night Cichlid II Original Watercolor Painting
Starry Night Cichlid, Paratilapia polleni
This amazingly colored fish is found in just one river on one island on our entire planet! The Starry Night Cichlid is endemic to the Ambasoana River on the Northern tip of Madagascar. Aside from this tiny speck of area on an island in the Indian Ocean, they are found nowhere else in the world. This precious creature is listed as vulnerable because its population is decreasing. Locals catch and eat the fish and they are also collected and sold to the aquarium trade. I created this painting in partnership with Shoal Conservation to help their Endemic Fishes of Madagascar Project.
Price includes museum-quality framing, UV-blocking glass, and free domestic shipping. The original painting's image size 7" wide x 6" tall and the framed size is 13" wide x 12" tall.
10% OF THIS SALE WILL BE DONATED TO SHOAL CONSERVATION TO HELP PRESERVE THIS INCREDIBLY RARE AND BEAUTIFUL SPECIES
My mission as an artist is to inspire an appreciation for and curiosity about nature and its creatures by communicating the aesthetic beauty of this planet’s amazing creatures as they really are.
It is my hope that this appreciation will result in acts of empathy & stewardship towards these incredible creatures portrayed in my paintings.
